The first of many

This year our preschool children will be learning in another environment other than the normal surrounds of the preschool grounds.  I have seen that children have an innate interest in all

natural things; they like to play with natural elements like water, sand, mud, and to watch birds and butterflies.  Experiences spent learning with nature help children to understand the beauty of our world.  These learning experiences can not be replicated indoors.

We have lovely surroundings neighboring us, so why not use it.  I have seen the benefits of forest/bush schools through workshops, trainings, researching and networking with others working in forest/bush schools.  We will be taking the children to an outdoor classroom where they will learn math’s skills, literacy, social & emotional and self help skills all through play in the outdoors.  Children will share ideas, negotiate, make decisions, and work together in an outdoor environment.

This is our first outdoor experience so it was just a taster, the children learnt about the safety rules and this will be repeated regularly so that they understand what to do.
